Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines clocks up half-a-million sales

After just three weeks, and nearly 600,000 sales, Blurred Lines is the fifth biggest selling single of 2013 so far!

The British public’s love affair with Robin Thicke shows no sign of letting up as his latest single, Blurred Lines, tops the Official Singles Chart for the third consecutive week.

The US R&B star’s track, which also features rapper TI and N.E.R.D mainman Pharrell Williams, became the fastest selling single of 2013 so far upon its release three weeks ago. Since than, it has continued to sell more than 190,000 copies per week, and is already the 5 biggest selling single of 2013 so far, with an overall sales tally of 583,000 copies!

Emeli Sande collaborator Naughty Boy holds steady at Number 2 with La La La FT Sam Smith, while Passenger climbs one place to Number 3 with Let Her Go. Daft Punk’s Get Lucky FT Pharrell Williams and Nile Rodgers (Number 4) and Olly MursDear Darlin’ (5) complete this week’s Official Singles Chart Top 5.

High climbers and re-entries

Taylor Swift’s Everything Has Changed FT Ed Sheeran climbs 46 places from Number 53 to Number 7, after the duo performed it on last weekend’s final of Britain’s Got Talent.

The Voice contestant Leah McFall is up eight places to Number 8 with her rendition of Gloria Gaynor’s 1979 classic, I Will Survive, while London MC Wiley clocks up the fourth Top 10 single from his latest album, The Ascent, and this week’s highest climber, with Lights On FT Angel and Tinchy Stryder up a massive 180 places to Number 9.

K-pop legend Psy climbs 34 places to re-enter the Official Singles Chart Top 40 today with Gentleman (17), while Jason Mraz is up 15 places to re-enter the Top 40 at Number 27 with I’m Yours. This week’s re-entries are completed by DJ Jazzy Jeff And The Fresh Prince’s Summertime (36), Christina Perri’s A Thousand Years (38), Justin Timberlake’s Mirrors (39) and Ghetto Supastar (That Is What You Are) by Pras Michel FT ODB and Mya (40).
