Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines returns to the top of the Official Singles Chart.

Its video may have got everybody talking, but Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines shows it’s not ready to fade away just yet, scoring a triumphant return to the top spot following two weeks in the runner-up slot.

The catchy track, which features man of the moment Pharrell Williams and rapper TI, spent a month at top in June before being knocked off by Swedish duo Icona Pop and their debut single I Love It, featuring Charli XCX. Blurred Lines shifted over 80,000 copies this week, and its combined sales tally now stands at 998,000 copies after just seven weeks on sale.

After a week in the driving seat, John Newman falls to Number 2 with Love Me Again. The Yorkshire-born singer had previously hit Number 1 in May 2012 as vocalist on Rudimental’s Feel The Love, but Love Me Again was his first solo chart-topper.

Highest new entry goes to a dance supergroup made up of Sebastian Ingrosso, Tommy Trash and John Martin. Reload enters the chart at Number 3. It’s Ingrosso’s second Top 40 as a solo artist, but he’s better known as one-third of Scandinavian dance superstars Swedish House Mafia, whose last collaboration with vocalist John Martin, Don’t You Worry Child, reached Number 1 in 2012. It’s Australian DJ Tommy Trash’s first appearance on the Official Singles Chart.

Former Number 1 I Love It, from Icona Pop FT Charli XCX, falls one place to Number 4. Black Eyed Peas’ frontman Will.I.Am’s single Bang Bang, taken from the soundtack to Baz Luhrmann movie The Great Gatsby, slips one place to complete this week’s Top 5.

New Entries and High Climbers

While Sebastian Ingrosso, Tommy Trash & John Martin take the highest new entry at Number 3, boyband Lawson debut at Number 6 with Brokenhearted, their fifth Top 40 hit on the Official Singles Chart.

Australian rapper Iggy Azalea gets her biggest hit of her career so far, as her second single Bounce goes in at Number 13.

British dance artist Katy B makes a welcome return to the Official Singles Chart after a two-year absence, as What Love Is Made Of debuts at Number 21, giving her a sixth Top 40 hit.

Not content with topping the Official Albums Chart with Magna Carta Holy Grail, hip-hop superstar Jay-Z gets a new entry at Number 24 with the album’s opener, Holy Grail, which features Justin Timberlake.

New at Number 27 is London rapper Sneakbo’s Ring A Ling, giving him his second Top 40 hit as a solo artist and a personal best – his last chart hit, Zim Zimma, peaked at Number 35. He made the Top 10 in May 2012 as a featured artist on D Banj’s Oliver Twist, which reached Number 9.

Surging 23 places to enter the Top 40 at Number 36 is Pink’s True Love featuring Lily Allen. It’s Pink’s 26th Top 40 hit and the 12th for Lily. Lily Allen is expected to make a comeback as a solo artist later this year. The outspoken singer has been back in the news this week following a Twitter spat with controversial rapper Azealia Banks.
