Rixton take on Nicole Scherzinger for this week’s Number 1 single

British newcomers Rixton are battling it out with Nicole Scherzinger to claim this week’s Official Number 1 single.

The British four-piece’s debut single, Me And My Broken Heart, currently leads the former Pussycat Dolls star and X Factor judge’s latest track, Your Love (Number 2), by a margin of nearly 12,000 copies at this mid-way stage.

Rixton are comprised of frontman Jake Roche (son of Shane Richie and Coleen Nolan!), Charley Bagnall (guitar), Lewi Morgan (drums) and Danny Wilkin (bass and keyboard), are managed by Scooter Braun, counting Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber among their stable-mates. On audio streams alone, Ariana's Problem (Number 3 overall) is currently leading the way with the most streamed track of the week so far in the UK.

Meanwhile, Your Love (2) is the second single to be lifted from Nicole Scherzinger’s as yet untitled, second solo studio album. It was written and produced by The-Dream (Britney Spears, Rihanna) and Tricky Stewart (Mariah Carey, Beyonce).

Rounding out today’s midweek Top 5 are reigning chart topper will.i.am’s It’s My Birthday FT Cody Wise (4) and Ella Henderson’s Ghost (5), which is set to spend its sixth week in the Top 5.

New Entries and High Climbers

There are two further new entries in today’s Official Singles Chart Update.

BRIT School alum, Ella Eyre, best known for her Number 1 collaboration with Rudimental, Waiting All Night, enters the mid-week chart at Number 8 with new single, If I Go.

Sussex-based producer, Kove is on track for his first UK Top 40 with Way We Are FT Melissa Steel (Number 17), while Game Of Thrones star, Raleigh Ritchie, re-enters the Top 40 with Stronger Than Ever (Number 40).

After securing his place at the top of the BBC Radio 1Xtra Power List last week, Ed Sheeran’s Thinking Out Loud has climbed seven places from Number 29 to 22.
