Rising star Billy Lockett dials things up on his stirring new single Empty House

Expect to hear a lot more from the Northampton singer-songwriter in 2018.

Fans of rousing, emotional soul-pop balladry would do well to pay attention to Billy Lockett.

The Northampton-born singer-songwriter popped up on a fair few ones to watch lists at the start of the year and last week, at his biggest show yet at London's Union Chapel, he announced he’d signed to Warner; East West Records.

Prior to landing the deal, he'd picked up support from Radio 1 and 6Music, supported Lana Del Rey and Birdy on tour and sold out four of his own headline shows. Things are building pretty nicely, you might say.  

His first release on Warner, Empty House, is a grand, sweeping statement of intent that dials things up dramatically on the production side of things compared to his earlier tracks.

The song is produced by MyRiot, whose previous work with London Grammar and Birdy gives you a good indication of what to expect sound-wise - with a bit of Bon Iver and the musicality of Ludovico Einaudi thrown in. Watch the Empty House music video below:
