Rise Of The Guardians tops the Official Video Chart

DreamWorks Animation’s Rise Of The Guardians has knocked The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2’s off Number 1 on the Official Video Chart.

Rise Of The Guardians was the UK’s biggest selling video title last week. The computer animated film, which is based on William Joyce's The Guardians Of Childhood series of books, has gone straight in at Number 1 on the Official Video Chart.

Produced by DreamWorks Animation (Shrek, Madagascar, Kung Fu Panda and How to Train Your Dragon) and featuring an all-star cast including Chris Pine, Alec Baldwin, Hugh Jackman, Isla Fisher and Jude Law, Rise Of The Guardians has ended The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2’s two week run at Number 1 on the Chart.

In addition to topping the combined Official Video Chart, Rise Of The Guardians is also Number 1 on the Official DVD Chart, Official Blu-ray Chart and the Official Children’s Video Chart.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 falls one place to Number 2, Skyfall is at Number 3, and Disney’s Brave climbs three places from Number 7 to Number 4. This week’s Top 5 is completed by Ben Affleck’s Iran hostage crisis thriller, Argo (Number 5).

New Entries

In addition to Rise Of The Guardians (Number 1), there are two other new entries on this week’s Official Video Chart.

Mike Newell’s adaptation of Charles Dickens' Great Expectations, which stars Jeremy Irvine, Helena Bonham Carter, Holliday Grainger, Ralph Fiennes and Robbie Coltrane, is new in at Number 15. While Shaun Of The Dead and Hot Fuzz director Edgar Wright’s Sightseers makes its Official Video Chart debut at Number 20.
