Pharrell Williams has knocked Bastille’s Bad Blood off the top of the Official Albums Chart to score his first ever UK Number 1 album.

The British public’s love affair with Pharrell Williams is showing no sign of letting up! The US singer/songwriter and producer scores his first ever Number 1 album in the UK today with his second solo full-length, G I R L.

The news comes just a week after G I R L’s lead single, Happy, smashed though the million copies sales barrier to give Pharell his third UK million-selling single in less than twelve months.

It beats previous record holder, Bruce Springsteen’s High Hopes, which sold over 48,000 copies during its first week on sale back in January.

Ellie Goulding climbs one place to Number 2 today with Halcyon, while Bastille’s Bad Blood slides two places to Number 3. This week’s Top 5 is completed by Swedish DJ and producer Avicii‘s True (up eight places to Number 4) and Arctic Monkey’s AM (down three places to Number 5).
