The race to the top spot in the Official Video Chart continues to be highly competitive this week, with Paddington on course to return to Number 1.

But the race isn’t over yet, with Interstellar trailing by a tiny margin at the midweek stage (with only four days sales counted, Sun-Weds). The intergalactic space adventure film topped last week’s Official Video Chart with a whopping 235,000 sales, just 10,000 copies ahead of Paddington at the final whistle. With three chart days to go, the chart battle continues.

Elsewhere, two new entries are set to impact on Sunday’s Official Video Chart. Currently at Number 3 is Signature Entertainment’s Sci-Fi Mystery film Predestination, staring Ethan Hawke - which will be Signature Entertainment’s second-highest ever charting release if it holds on, ahead of last year’s Number 1; Legends Of Oz – Dorothy’s Return. Series 2 of The Musketeers is set to be the other new entry to the Official Video Chart this week, at Number 8, soaring ahead of Series 1, which peaked at Number 26 in April last year. The series 1 & 2 box set is also sitting at No. 93 in this week’s midweek.

Last week’s chart (which covered the run-up to Easter weekend) saw an influx of releases targeted at the children’s market, including Penguins Of Madagascar at 3 and Lego Batman at 11. .

Also notable is the fact that, while Interstellar was the biggest selling video of the week (topping the Official Video Chart) it was the second biggest DVD, with Paddington topping the Official DVD Chart. Interstellar topped the Official Blu-Ray Chart however, selling 110,000 Blu-Rays across the week, four times as many as its’ Peruvian bear rival.

Paddington is now comfortably the biggest selling video of the year, with 690,000 sales to its name, well ahead of the Hunger Games Mockingjay Part 1 on 470,000 sales. In turn, Interstellar is likely to enter the year to date Official Video Chart Top 5 by the end of this week.
