DJ and music blogger Harvey was possibly the biggest pop fan we have ever had the pleasure of knowing. As well as introducing the Official Charts team to undiscovered pop acts WE NEED IN OUR LIFE RIGHT NOW, this guy had a party trick that we were always very, very impressed by – a trained dancer and total pop music geek - Harvey could bust out (to perfection) on demand any music video routine of the last 15 years on the dancefloor. Steps, Gaga, Spice Girls, Girls Aloud, you name it, he had the choreography down. Pop awesomeness.

We launched the brand new Official Charts Pop Gem feature last month, these glorious retro musical nuggets have been unearthed and lovingly compiled by the Official Charts team, just for you, the users. Harmless slices of pop brilliance, they, quite simply, remind us of the good times in life. This editorial feature has been undeniably influenced by our friendships with fellow pop nutters like Harvey and their passion for a forgotten pop banger. In fact, when we launched the feature, Harvey was actually the very first of our followers to send in their own Pop Gem request.

With what can only be described as EPIC opening strains - 'All of the day! All of the night! You do the things, that make me feel so right!' – Billie Piper rocketed to the top of the Official Singles Chart back in June 2000 with Day & Night, giving the pop princess her third UK Number 1 single.

Taken from Billie’s second album, Walk Of Life, Day & Night sold an impressive 104,000 copies in its first week on sale, the track stayed in the chart for 12 weeks, and went on to sell over a quarter of a million copies here in the UK.
