Official Charts Introducing: Tich

Introducing YouTube sensation and One Direction fave Tich, who made her Top 40 debut this weekend with her new single, Dumb.

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, mums and dads, Meet Tich - the 19-year-old YouTube star who’s caught the eyes (and the ears) Olly Murs, The Wanted and One Direction’s Harry Styles. She made her Official Singles Chart debut this weekend at Number 23 with her first release, Dumb.

It’s high time you were introduced:

“The name Tich came from when I was like 9 and I was really, really short,” she tells OfficialCharts.com. “Obviously I’m still really, really short, but it kind of stuck.

“My teachers started calling it me, so did my friends, but it’s spelled wrong! ‘Tich’ should be ‘T I T CH’!”

Tich has just come off tour with Olly Murs and The Lovable Rogues, so we asked her to dish some dirt on the lads. But, ‘What happens on tour stays on tour’…

“There’s so much dirt I could dish, but that’s for another time,” she laughs.

Olly and The Lovable Rogues aren’t her only celebrity fans: Tich is also loved by The Wanted, Stooshe and a certain member of One Direction, too!

“Harry Styles Tweeted me, and I’m still recovering!” she blushes. “He said that he loved Dumb, and like, wow! That means so much.”

Speaking of Harry, and indeed Dumb… Dumb is kind of the antithesis to Harry’s former beau Taylor Swift’s We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together; whereas Taylor wants to kick her boyf to the curb, for like ever, Tich actually wanted to get back with her bloke.

“Dumb is about when I broke up with my boyfriend, and I shouldn’t have,” she explains. “The whole song is about how stupid I am, and how I want him back.

“The day I wrote it I was crying and I was really down, but the whole song is really upbeat and fun. It’s channeling those emotions into a feel-good, positive vibe.”

So, has he heard the track?

“I don’t know,” she squirms. “I hope he hasn’t! It was such a long time ago, so it might be a bit awkward [laughs].”
