Official Charts Advent Calendar 2012: Day 14

The countdown to Christmas has begun, so OfficialCharts.com is celebrating by looking back at all the Number 1s of 2012 with our very own virtual Advent Calendar!

For Day 14 of our Advent countdown, we look back at Gary Barlow And The Commonwealth Band’s single, Sing.

Sing was co-written by Gary Barlow and Andrew Lloyd Webber for Her Majesty The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. It initially debuted on the Official Singles Chart on June 3 at Number 11, while the accompanying album of the same name entered the Official Albums Chart at Number 1. A week later Sing climbed to Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart giving us our very first chart double of 2012.

The week it went to Number 1, sing sold 142,000 copies, which was the then biggest week one sale of any single this year. It is now second only to Cheryl Cole’s Call My Name. To date, Sing has sold 327,000 copies, making it the 49th biggest selling single of 2012.
