Oasis Singles Collection Makes Number 1 Album

Time Flies 1994 – 2009, the complete singles collection from Oasis, soars straight to top of the Official Albums Chart selling almost four times as many copies as its nearest rival Glee The Music – Journey To The Regionals, a new entry at number two, the Official Charts Company confirms today.

Time Flies… gives Oasis the eighth number one album of their career and also marks a milestone in the history of the Official Albums Chart, becoming the countdown’s 900th number one.

The 26 track album features no less than 23 Top 10 singles, including the eight number ones; Some Might Say (1995), Don’t Look Back In Anger (1996), D’You Know What I Mean (1997), All Around The World (1998), Go Let It Out (2000), The Hindu Times (2002), Lyla (2005) and The Importance Of Being Idle (2005).

A deluxe version of the album also features all 36 videos ever made (all previously unreleased) including the last ever recorded Oasis live show from The Roundhouse in London on the 21st July 2009.

Oasis’s previous number one albums are: Definitely Maybe (1994), (What’s The Story) Morning Glory? (1995), Be Here Now (1997), Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants (2000), Heathen Chemistry (2002), Don’t Believe The Truth (2005) and Dig Out Your Soul (2008).

There is one other new entry in this week’s Official Albums Chart Top 10; Billy Joel’s collection Piano Man – The Very Best Of climbs to number seven from last week’s number fifteen having previously peaked at number eleven in 2006.

Plan B’s former number one (in April 2010) The Defamation Of Strickland Banks is a re-entry at number nine climbing from last week’s number fourteen and Mumford & Sons’ Sigh No More is a re-entry at ten having previously peaked at number seven in January this year.

In the Official Singles Chart, Dizzee Rascal and James Corden’s Shout stays at number one while the Official Singles Chart Top 10 features four new entries; British rapper Example’s Kickstarts straight in at number three, Kylie Minogue’s All The Lovers straight in at number four, Swedish pop star Robyn’s Dancing On My Own straight in at number eight and Lady Gaga’s Alejandro climbing to this week’s number ten from last week’s number nineteen.
