Globally acclaimed house DJ and producer David Guetta lands his third UK number one in the Official Singles Chart with Gettin’ Over You climbing to the top spot from last week’s number 41 in a late week surge the Official Charts Company announces today.
Former number one single B.o.B’s Nothin’ On You featuring Bruno Mars had been leading the way for a return to the top spot when the Official Chart Update was announced on Wednesday but was overtaken by Gettin’ Over You in the last two days of the chart week.
Gettin’ Over You features a star-studded cast including Guetta’s long time vocal collaborator Chris Willis, Fergie from Black Eyed Peas and Los Angeles DJ/Rappers LMFAO.
Like his previous UK number one singles, When Love Takes Over (June 2009) and Sexy Chick (August 2009), Gettin’ Over You is taken from French-born Guetta’s fourth studio album One Love (2009) which peaked at number two in the Official Albums Chart.
There is only one other new entry in this week’s Official Singles Chart Top 10: Alicia Keys’ Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart is at number seven up from last week’s number thirteen.
The Official Albums Chart also sees a new number one this week as Jack Johnson’s fifth studio album, To The Sea, goes straight in at the top giving the Hawaiian-born musician, film maker and sometime surfer his third UK number one album after In Between Dreams (2005) and Sleep Through The Static (2008).
Jack Johnson has sold over eighteen million albums wordwide. He will play four UK dates in June including Glastonbury and the O2.
There is just one other new entry in the Official Albums Chart Top 10: the big band ensemble of service personnel, RAF Squadronaires, is straight in at number nine with In The Mood, a tribute to the legendary Glenn Miller.
