According to today’s Official Charts Update, Nicki Minaj could be rocketing towards the top of the Official Singles Chart.

The Trinidadian / American singer’s track Starships, which has continued to climb since it debuted at Number 16 on the chart four weeks ago, is still on an upward trajectory. Starships has gained significant ground on Gotye FT Kimbra’s Somebody That I Used To Know (Number 1) and Emeli Sande’s Next To Me (2), and is currently hovering at Number 3. Be sure to log on to www.theofficialcharts.com at 7PM on Sunday (March 11) to see if it shoots up to the top of the chart.

New entries

Ably assisted by Gym Class Heroes frontman Travie McCoy, London girl band StooShe are leading the pack of this week’s new releases.

The trio, who were reportedly turned down by X Factor supremo Simon Cowell because they were “too risque”, look set to score their debut Top 10 hit with Love Me (Number 5). www.theofficialcharts.com caught up with StooShe earlier this week to find out what all the fuss is about.

Meanwhile, X Factor runner up, Marcus Collins, also looks set to go Top 10 with his cover of the White StripesSeven Nation Army (Number 6). However, with just over 250 copies separating Collins and StooShe, Simon Cowell will no doubt be on the edge of his seat until the winner of this X Factor-style chart battle is revealed on Sunday.

Tinchy Stryder and Pixie Lott’s are also Top 10-bound with their new collaboration. Bright Lights (Number 8) is the third single to be released from the London rapper’s forthcoming fourth studio album, Full Tank, which is out next Monday (March 12).

And finally, South London grime MC Dot Rotten who is set to score his first Top 40 hit this Sunday. His new track, Are You not Entertained, is at Number 32 in today’s Official Singles Chart Update.
