The latest incarnation of classic novel Murder on the Orient Express is speeding its way to Number 1 on the Official Video Chart.
In today's Chart Update, which tallies up physical sales of DVDs and Blu-rays from the past three days, the all-star mystery drama starring Kenneth Branagh, Penelope Cruz, Dame Judi Dench and Willem Dafoe has shifted 72,000 units, some 30,000 more than its nearest rival.
Last week's Number 1 Thor: Ragnarok falls to Number 2, but can take pride in being the fastest-selling release of 2018 so far with first week sales of 286,000. The rest of the midweek Top 5 is made up of new entries; Bad Moms - A Bad Moms Christmas is at Number 3 (with a double-pack including the new release and its prequel charting at Number 21), and Outlander: Complete Season 3 is at Number 4.
New entries and high climbers
The Oscars have had an impact on this week's chart, with winner of Best Adapted Screenplay Call Me By Your Name opening at Number 5. Best Costume Design nominee - and former Official Video Chart Number 1 - Victoria & Abdul rises three to Number 7, while Best Original Screenplay winner Get Out vault 32 places to Number 35, and Best Picture nominee Hidden Figures rebounds 29 positions to Number 36.
Back to new entries, Kickboxer: Retaliation starring Jean-Claude Van Damme opens at Number 22, while The Killing Of A Sacred Deer is new at 34. Finally, several Disney movies rocket up the chart following a price promotion: Moana (8); the 2017 edition of Beauty and the Beast (17); Cars 3 (18); Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar's Revenge (20); and The Lion King (33).
