Mumford & Sons’ Wilder Mind extends Official Albums Chart reign

Plus new entries including Eric Clapton, Tove Lo, Roisin Murphy and Snoop Dogg.

Mumford & Sons’ third studio album Wilder Mind claims a second week at Number 1.

Wilder Mind this week outsold its nearest competitor, Sam Smith’s In The Lonely Hour (2) by more than 2:1, becoming the first LP to spend two consecutive weeks at Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart this year.

The album not only scored the highest combined chart sales of the week but was also individually the most streamed, most physically purchased and most digitally purchased over the last seven days.

Elsewhere, Hozier’s eponymous debut climbs three places to score a new chart peak at Number 3, followed by Taylor Swift’s 1989, up four places to 4.

Former chart-topper Paul Simon’s The Ultimate Collection (5) rounds out today’s Top 5.

New entries

Eric Clapton scores this week’s highest new entry with new Best Of compilation Forever Man (8).

Swedish singer-songwriter Tove Lo lands at Number 17 today with debut album Queen Of The Clouds, followed by Leonard Cohen’s Can’t Forget - A Souvenir Of The Grand (18) and Roisin Murphy’s Hairless Toys (19).

Snoop Dogg scores a seventh UK Top 40 with latest offering Bush (25), trailed by Nathan Carter who makes his chart debut with Beautiful Life (34).

Andre Rieu & His Johann Strauss Orchestra’s Magic Of The Violin (36) climbs five places to enter the Top 40 today, while Thea Gilmore’s Ghosts & Graffiti makes its Top 40 debut at 39.

Gregory Porter’s Liquid Spirit is this week’s highest climber, advancing 28 places to re-enter the Top 40 at Number 20.

Elsewhere, Guns N’ Roses Greatest Hits (23) is up 26 places and David Bowie’s Nothing Has Changed - The Very Best Of (40) is up five.
