Mumford & Sons return to Number 1 following Glastonbury

Mumfords snatch Official Albums Chart Number 1 less than 150 copies ahead of Michael Bublé!

Mumford & Sons reap the benefits of a storming Glastonbury headline set as their 2012 hit album Babel climbs 15 places all the way to Number 1 in its forty-first week on the Official Albums Chart.

There could hardly be less in it though, Babel finishes the week a mere 125 copies ahead of Michael Bublé’s previous chart topper To Be Loved and so Mumford & Sons spend a third non-consecutive week as the Official Albums Chart Number 1.

Last week’s chart topper Tom Odell slides two as his debut album Long Way Down finishes the week at Number 3. Jake Bugg, who received much praise for his Glasto set climbs one to Number 4 with his eponymous debut album. Rod Stewart completes this week’s Official Albums Chart Top 5 with Time.

New Entries

There are three new entries on this week’s Official Albums Chart.

The Weight Of Your Love, the fourth album from Brummie indie rockers Editors finishes the week at Number 6, securing them their fourth Official Albums Chart Top 10 placing.

Further down the Official Albums Chart is Duckworth Lewis Method’s Sticky Wickets (Number 32) and Deap Vally’s Sisitronix (38).

Meanwhile, the Glastonbury effect can also be seen impacting fellow headliners Arctic Monkeys’ seminal debut album Whatever People Say That’s What I’m Not, finishing the week at Number 15, while the Rolling Stones’ Grrr shoots 29 places to Number 20. Mumford & Sons’ debut album Sigh No More is up 25 places to Number 12, while Vampire Weekend’s third album Modern Vampires Of The City climbs 16 to Number 26.
