Mumford & Sons on course for huge Number 1 this weekend
According to today’s Official Chart Update, Mumford & Sons are set to score a huge Number 1 with their new album Babel on the Official Albums Chart this weekend.
The London folksters are on course for one of the fastest-selling albums of the year, having already sold 89 000 copies of their sophomore release by today’s mid-week point. In context, current Official Albums Chart topper Battle Born by The Killers became the third fastest selling album of 2012 last weekend after selling 94 000 units across the whole of its first week on sale. It will also be the Mumfords first UK Number 1.
Babel is some distance ahead of İUno!, the second highest new entry and the first in a trilogy of back-to-basics albums by Green Day. The Killers’ current Number 1 Battle Born has dropped down to Number 3, closely followed by Pink’s The Truth About Love at Number 4.
Jonathan & Charlotte, the operatic duo who captured the nation's hearts during this year's Britain’s Got Talent complete the Official Album Chart Update with their debut album Together heading towards Number 5.

In addition to Mumford & Sons (1), Green Day (2) and Jonathan & Charlotte (5), there are ten new entries in this week’s Official Album Chart Update.
