With hundreds of thousands of British consumers poised to take advantage of the last full shopping weekend before Mothering Sunday (March 18), Mother’s Day could have a significant impact on next week’s Official Albums Chart and Official Video Chart.

While flowers have traditionally been voted the Number 1 gift for Mother’s Day, over the last few years an increasing number of shoppers have been hitting the high street or ordering CDs and DVDs from online retailers such as Amazon, Play and HMV to let their mum’s know how much they care.

Last year’s Official Albums Chart saw mum-friendly releases from artists such as Adele, Ronan Keating and Burt Bacharach, The Overtones, Mary Byrne and Eva Cassidy dominate the Top 10. Similarly, on the Official Video Chart, feel-good titles such as Made In Dagenham, Life As We Know It, Tamara Drewe and Sex In The City 2 filled the upper reaches of the chart.

Hot titles set to make an impact on this year’s Mother’s Day Official Albums Chart includeLionel Richie’s (pictured) Tuskegee, Military Wives In My Dreams, Emeli Sande’s Our Version Of Events, Adele’s 21, Katie Melua’s Secret Symphony,  and Mary Byrne’s With Love. However, if your mum’s a fan of Daniel O'Donnell, Estelle, Jason Donovan, Marcus Collins, Michael Bolton or Michael Kiwanuka, you’ll have to wait until their new albums are released on Monday, or pre-order them from a digital retailer.

On the Official Video Chart, Mrs Brown’s Boys, Bridesmaids and Sex And The City 2 (which looks set to climb a massive 124 places on this Sunday), are all proving to be incredibly popular according to this week’s Official Charts Company sales data, while Love Never Dies, The Help, Jane Eyre, Call The Midwife, Decoy Bride, My Week With Marilyn and The Bodyguard (released for the first time ever on Blu-ray) are all out on Monday.
