Morgan Freeman's Ben Hur charging towards the Official Video Chart top spot

The fifth adaptation of Ben Hur, which stars Morgan Freeman and Jack Huston, is currently outselling the competition on this week's Official Video Chart.

The best-selling DVD and Blu-ray of the last seven days will be revealed this Sunday, but as of today's midweek stage, 2016's Ben Hur is ahead of the pack by over 5,000 units, it's nearest rival being another new entry - Charlize Theron and Matthew McConaughey's stop-motion fantasy Kubo and the Two Strings (2).

More new entries follow at Numbers 3 and 4 this week, those being Anthropoid starring Jamie Dornan (3), and horror flick Don't Breathe (4). The Top 5 is rounded out by last week's Number 1 USS Indianapolis: Men of Courage led by Nicolas Cage (5).

New entries and high climbers

Trainspotting once again climbs up the chart in anticipation of the original's sequel impacting cinemas soon, up a potential three places to Number 6, ahead of Hunt for the Wilderpeople which is hunting for a Top 10 spot at 8.

Country music series Nashville lands at Number 31 with its fourth season while another new entry looking to make a dent is Series 1 of Doctor Who spin-off Class, which has so far exterminated its way to Number 33.
