Michael Buble keeps JLS and Snow Patrol off the top spot

Michael Buble ushers in festive season as his Christmas album climbs to Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart.

In a tight tussle for the top, Grammy award winning singer/songwriter Michael Buble manages to leapfrog both JLS and Snow Patrol who led him in Wednesday’s Official Chart Update to usher in the festive season with album Christmas climbing from last week’s Number 2 to this week’s Official Albums Number 1.  Christmas took the title by a winning margin of less than 1% ahead of JLS’s Jukebox which has to settle for Highest New Entry accolade – see below.

JLS take the Highest New Entry title with third studio album Jukebox straight in at Number 2 giving the X Factor 2008 finalists their third Official Albums Top 2Jukebox follows the multi-platinum releases JLS (Number 1, 2009) and Outta This World (Number 2, 2010) and JLS’s seven Top 10 singles including the five Number 1s;  Beat Again (2009), Everybody In Love (2009), Love You More (2010), The Club Is Alive (2010) and She Makes Me Wanna (2011).

There are two other new entries in this week’s Official Albums Top 10Official Chart Update leaders Snow Patrol see their sixth studio album Fallen Empires straight in at Number 3 to give the indie rockers their fifth Top 5 album, including the multi-platinum Number 1 Eyes Open (2006). And Canadian singer/songwriter Drake, who featured on Rihanna’s Number 1 Single What’s My Name (Jan 2011) is straight in at Number 5 with Take Care, the follow-up to his 2010 debut Thank Me Later, while his lead single from the album, also called Take Care ft Rihanna, is a new entry at Number 12 in the Official Singles Chart.
