Liam Payne comments on Harry Styles' Sign Of The Times: "It's not something I'd listen to"

Liam talks about his fellow One Direction bandmates' solo projects.

One Direction were all pretty much on the same page. Well, with the exception of Zayn leaving before the band called its hiatus. But now they're on a break, is it the same story?

Liam Payne was asked for his thoughts on Harry Styles' Sign Of The Times in a recent interview with Music Choice, and while he thinks Harry has done some great work, it's not quite his cup of tea.

"Harry’s song I heard, and I’ll be honest with you, it’s not my sort of music. It’s not something I’d listen to, but I think he did a great job of doing what he wanted to do. That’s the way I’d put it best, I think.”

But don't worry, he thinks the feeling will be mutual when Harry hears his song: "I think the funny thing is, [Harry] would say the same thing about me because he doesn’t really listen to hip-hop music, whereas it’s like my song’s more [Tyga's] ‘Rack City’ and his song is more of a different era to something I’d listen to, I guess.”

Liam also mentioned Niall's solo tracks This Town and Slow Hands, and thinks the singer-songwriter route he is going down is "great" and "really cool".

The 23-year-old also shared some tidbits about his upcoming album, and confirmed he has worked with Zedd: "I got to work with Zedd who is amazing and obviously is smashing it right now. In his own words, he said it's the catchiest song he has ever written. So I'm happy about that, it's good for me."

He described his solo record as "like my personal playlist" which will feature an eclectic mix of R&B slow jams, dance tracks and he's promised "some great collabs coming". We'll watch this space!

Liam's new single, R&B jam Strip That Down, featuring Quavo, has came out today, so I'm sure we'll hear Harry's feedback soon. Will it reach Number 1 like Harry and Zayn's songs managed to do? Only time will tell.

Cheryl, who is of course Liam's partner, has so far notched up five Number 1s on the Official Singles Chart, so no pressure there Mr. Payne!

In short, Liam's a casual who will only like manufactured pop songs about that are not self-written and do not use proper instruments

'Sign of the Times' is a very good song and stands head and shoulders above any of the 1D catalogue, and certainly far superior to any other solo releases. It's a track that can sell an album whereas the others are "Now That's What..." filler at best.
