Recorded at the band’s tribute concert to late Atlantic Records president Ahmet Ertegun at London’s O2 Arena in December, 2007, Celebration Day captures the magic of frontman Robert Plant, guitarist Jimmy Page, and bassist John Paul Jones performing live together for the first time since the death of drummer John Bonham in 1980. Drumming duties at the reunion concert were provided by Bonham’s son, Jason. Celebration Day has entered the Official Record Store Chart in pole position, knocking previous chart topper, One Directon’s Take Me Home, off Number 1
The Official Record Store Chart was launched in April of this year by the Official Charts Company and the organizers of Record Store Day UK to reflect sales of the UK’S coolest and most vibrant independent record shops.
London MC Example debuts at Number 2 with The Evolution Of Man, while One Direction fall two places to Number 3 with Take Me Home. The Top 5 is completed by Andre Rieu & The Johann Strauss Orchestra’s Magic Of The Movies (Number 4) and Rod Stewart’s Merry Christmas, Baby (5).
In addition to Led Zeppelin (Number 1) and Example (Number 2), there are seven other new entries on this week’s Official Record Store Chart.
AC/DC’s new live album, Live At River Plate, enters at Number 6, while Rihanna’s Unapologetic, which topped the Official Albums Chart on Sunday, is new in at Number 8. The deluxe edition of Michael Buble’s Christmas is at Number 13, Susan Boyle’s Standing Ovation enters at Number 15, and Little Mix’s DNA is at Number 16.
This week’s new entries are completed by Mogwai’s new remix album, A Wrenched Virile Lore, (Number 21) and the vinyl reissue of Iron Maiden’s The Number Of The Beast enters at Number 36.
