Lady Gaga’s new single goes on sale in the UK today following online leak.

Lady Gaga has rush released her new single, Applause, in the UK today (Tuesday, August 13) following an online leak over the weekend.

The track, which is taken from her upcoming third studio album Artpop, was set to be released on Sunday (August 18), however, her label brought the release date forward after low quality recordings of Applause surfaced online over the weekend.

"Lord in heaven, why?" Lady Gaga tweeted after finding out the single had leaked. "You just couldn't wait. This is too much for one Saturday."

Gaga broke the news that Applause was going on sale before its official release date in her native US last night.

"A pop music emergency is underway 911," she tweeted. "Summon the monster troupes! Due to hackers an abundance of low/high quality leaks... We issue this pop music emergency... Monsters spread the word!
