It sounds like Lady Gaga is going back to basics – first she announced she'll be going on a tour of US dive bars to promote her forthcoming album, and now she's released a stripped-back song called Million Reasons.

The singer posted the lyrics to the heartfelt ballad on Instagram before her first show to make sure fans would be able to sing along with the brand new song.

The song is available now and will feature on Gaga's fourth album Joanne, which is out October 21. Listen below:

Lady Gaga has scored 17 Top 40 hits, of which 11 went Top 10, with four of those going to Number 1. Her last chart-topper in the UK was 2010's Telephone with Beyoncé. See Lady Gaga's full UK chart history

I'm not a big fan of this track, I must admit. It looks like she's taking the "rock ballad" route again (like on her single "You And I" which wasn't really that successful).

If this track is just an album track like "Gipsy" was on ArtPop, this track is ok I guess and I'm going to wait to listen to the album in full before criticizing it but if this and "Perfect Illusion" are really representative of the style of the new album "Joanne", I don't think I will buy this one.
