Kylie Minogue's new record label have championed her upcoming album, and believe it could their biggest ever.

The Australian, who made her live comeback last night (March 13) at London's Cafe de Paris, will release her fourteenth studio album Golden on April 6. It will be her first album with BMG UK, after leaving Parlophone, who she released seven studio albums with.

Alistair Norbury, BMG's UK president, repertoire and marketing, has huge confidence in Kylie's change in direction with her new album. "It’s going to be a defining moment for this label," he told Music Week“We have taken our time and I feel proud that we’ve given her [Kylie] the space to make the record she wanted to make."

Kylie has an amazing track record on the Official Albums Chart, with five Number 1 LPs and a further 10 UK Top 10 albums. BMG UK believe Kylie will deliver huge numbers with her next release - with Norbury continuing: "We believe this is going to be the biggest ship of a BMG record in the UK that we’ve ever had. We anticipate that it will be the biggest-selling week one record we’ve ever had on BMG UK."

So far, Golden has spawned two country-tinged singles, Dancing and Stop Me From Falling. Both singles feature on this week's Official Trending Chart Top 20.

Kylie is currently previewing her new album with a string of intimate live shows across Europe, and she will embark on UK arenas later this year.

When released on April 6, Golden will be available on a variety of formats, including black, clear, and picture disc vinyl variants. Look through at the must-have vinyl albums coming in 2018.

Considering that she has alienated a big percentage of her fan base with this new direction, I wouldn't hold my breath if I were them. It takes time to win new fans. It's more likely going to be a slow burner like Impossible Princess

at the time of release yes it did, in the UK anyway, i think it did better in Australia. But now it's considered to be one of her best, it's a fan favourite for sure. a very very slow burner. lol

Alienated? You can’t be alienated before hearing the album, and now it’s out it proves what tosh your comment was. It’s not too country, most songs are definitely ‘Kylie’ songs and it’s been well received by critics too.

I'm pleased for you that you like it. I like it too. But there are a lot of fans that don't , and the reviews are kinda lukewarm, but not disastrous I guess. My 'tosh' comment was about the expectations of the record company, I thought I'd explain that as it seems you took it personal.

I think you mean, ‘took it personally,’ as you can’t verb a verb buddy. But no, I didn’t take it personally, it’s not my album. The fact that Golden has outsold its nearest competitor 3:1 and is headed for number 1 speaks volumes. Most reviews I’ve seen have given it 4/5 stars, worst was 3/5, which is hardly lukewarm. Glad you love it too, it’s truly awesome 😎.

ooh get you, miss grammar. English is my second language. Are you able to converse in another language ? To be fair, she only shifted about 50'000 units in the UK, which isn't much for someone of her status. Second week sales will be more telling, whether it has cross appeal or whether just her fans bought it. Kiss me once only spend about 4 weeks in the top 100. Good luck to her though, she's been working hard to promote it.

So outselling the nearest album almost 3:1 to get another number one in the U.K. ‘Isn’t much.’ Why is it that it doesn’t matter what she does, for some people it’s never enough? And you fall yourself a fan.

Stevo, it's 'call' not fall. If you have a go at someone about their grammar, at least make sure you're spelling is correct . Once again, this post was about the record companies expectations in terms of sales. Not about Kylie herself. She outsold a movie soundtrack that's already been in the charts for 2 months. This week she's down to No.3 . Which means that her overall sales are probably less than 75k so far . I'm happy for her that she's back on top of the charts, but it's not the big seller the label expected it to be . It's not 'Fever'. That's all. I'm not dissing her. Get over it.

Oh no an autocorrect fail, how can I live with myself? The label are very pleased with their number one album actually, they’ve made that very clear. I think you have a serious problem - the world has changed a lot since Fever and it seems it’s only you who’s living in the past.

Record companies are always over-confident before the releases. I remember the same thing was told about the album "X" in 2007 and although I enjoyed it very much and the fact that it's one of my favourites, it didn't exactly storm the charts like it should have. I think the same thing might happen with "Golden".
