UPDATE 20/05/2016: Dr Luke has now said Kesha can perform at the event after all. In a new statement, his label Kemosabe Records said: "Kesha's performance on the Billboard Music Awards was always approved, in good faith.

"Approval was only suspended when Kemosabe learned Kesha was to use the performance as a platform to discuss the litigation."

The statement adds that it's had assurances from Kesha, her representatives and the show's producers that she will not refer to the allegations during the show.

This year's Billboard Music Awards take place on May 22, and includes performances from Britney Spears, Celine Dion, Justin Bieber, Pink and Rihanna.

Kesha's performance at the Billboard Music Awards this weekend has been pulled because of her recent legal drama with producer Dr Luke.

After announcing last week that she would pay tribute to Bob Dylan at this year's event with a performance of It Ain't Me, Babe, Kesha has now said she is "not allowed" to play the show.

Billboard reports that Dr Luke's Kemosabe Records, who Kesha is signed to, has since "rescinded" its approval of the performance. The full statement reads: "Kemosabe subsequently rescinded its approval following a media report on Wednesday May 11 regarding Kesha’s appearance on the BBMAs. Unfortunately, Kesha and Kemosabe have since been unable to come to an agreement for Kesha to perform on the show."

Kesha also took to Instagram to explain the news to fans. Read the post below:

Kesha has performed at Coachella as well as a number of charity events in recent months, but the Billboard Music Awards was to be her first televised performance since her ongoing suit with Dr Luke.

Sony and Dr Luke's subsidiary label also allowed Kesha to release a new version of Zedd's True Colours in April.
