Katy Perry looks set to score her fourth UK Number 1 single this weekend with Roar, which is already one of the fastest sellers of 2013 so far!

Katy Perry is on course for her fourth UK Number 1 single this Sunday with Roar, OfficialCharts.com can confirm.

According to today’s Official Charts Company sales data, nearly 132,000 copies of the track were purchased in the UK up to midnight last night. Roar currently has a lead of more then 95,000 copies on its closest competitor, Ellie Goulding’s Burn, which has been Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart for the last three weeks.

Roar is already the fifth fastest selling single of 2013 so far, overtaking the likes ofMiley Cyrus’ We Can’t Stop (128,000 copies week one) and Icona Pop’s I Love It (125,000). And there are still two days of sales to be counted!

Should Roar hold onto its lead, Katy will achieve a transatlantic chart Number 1 double; her track knocked Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines off the top of the US’s Billboard Hot 100 singles chart after an 12 week stand at Number 1 earlier this week.

To find out where Roar finally charts, tune into the Official Chart Show on BBC Radio 1 from 4pm on Sunday, and log on to www.officialcharts.com for the Top 100 in full.
