Katy Perry clocks up seventh Number 1 in the US

Katy Perry has clocked up her seventh Number 1 single in the US.

The California Girls singer’s new track, Part Of Me, became only the 20th single in the history of the Billboard Hot 100 chart to debut at Number 1.

Part Of Me is taken from The Complete Confection edition of her latest album, Teenage Dream, which is released in the UK on March 26.

UK record breaker Adele has three tracks in this week’s Hot 100 Top 10 - Set Fire To The Rain holds firm at Number 2, Rolling In The Deep is up from Number 17 to Number 5 and Someone Like You climbs four places to Number 7.

Whitney Houston’s I Will Always Love You is up four places to Number 3, while Kelly Clarkson, who was Number 1 last week with Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You), is this week’s Number 4. fun. and Janelle Monae’s We Are Young slips from Number 3 to Number 6, and Rihanna and Calvin Harris’ We Found Love is down two places to this week’s Number 8.

There are two new entries in this week’s Top 10 - Nicki Minaj’s Starships is new in at Number 9, and Chris Brown’s Turn Up The Music completes the Top 10.

On the Billboard 200 albums chart, Adele continues her reign at Number 1 with 21, while Whitney Houston’s Whitney: The Greatest Hits climbs from Number 6 to Number 2. Now 41 is Number 3, and Adele’s 2008 debut album, 19, is this week’s Number 4. The 2012 Grammy Nominees album completes this week’s Top 5.
