Jeff Goldblum is swapping a Jurassic World for the world of jazz music as it has been revealed he is working on his very first album.

The Hollywood actor, who is reprising his role as Dr. Ian Malcolm in the latest Jurassic Park movie, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, has signed to Universal's Decca Records and will release a jazz album later in 2018.

Jeff is a lifelong pianist, which Decca bosses got a glimpse of when he accompanied Gregory Porter on The Graham Norton Show, which you can watch below. Following the performance of Mona Lisa, impressed execs flew out to Los Angeles to meet with Jeff.

A statement from Decca Records explains that Jeff performed music in cocktail lounges in Pittsburgh as a teenager. Over 40 years on, the 65-year-old is prepping his debut album.

"I'm so happy to be in cahoots with the wonderful people at Decca, one of the coolest and most prestigious labels of all time," said Jeff.

While Jeff has never released any music professionally, he regularly hosts a jazz variety show at Rockwell Table and Stage in Los Angeles, and has his own jazz band The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra, who has worked with since the 1990s.

"As far as I can tell, everyone loves Jeff Goldblum," said the label's director of A&R Tom Lewis. "He's a fantastic jazz pianist, a great band leader and just about the loveliest man in the world. His love of jazz is infectious and whenever he plays he makes you feel very happy. If we can take Jeff's music into people's homes then we will be helping, in our own small way, to make the world a happier place."
