Ireland's Official Top 40 biggest albums of 2018 so far

Plus debut albums from Picture This, Anne-Marie, Niall Horan and more feature.

The Greatest Showman has dominated cinemas and the charts for much of 2018, so it should come as little surprise that its much loved soundtrack is Ireland’s biggest album of the year so far.

The Motion Picture Cast Recording has so far logged 14 weeks at Number 1 on the Official Irish Albums Chart and has yet to leave the Top 10 since it debuted at Number 10 in January. The album includes hit songs This Is Me, Rewrite The Stars and The Greatest Show.

Currently in second place is Ed Sheeran’s Divide, 2017’s best-selling album in Ireland, followed by Post Malone’s Beerbongs & Bentleys. The US rapper’s debut Stoney, released in 2016, is at 13.

At Number 4 are pop-rock duo Picture This, who also claim the biggest album by an Irish act of the year so far - check out the full Top 10 here. The band’s first full length album topped the Official Irish Albums Chart last August and includes the Top 40 hits Never Change and Addicted To You.

Elsewhere, Ed Sheeran makes two more appearances, with 2014’s X at Number 5 and at 21 with his 2011 debut +, Dua Lipa’s self-titled debut is at 7, and Niall Horan’s first solo album Flicker – a Number 1 record last October – is at 10.

Following the untimely death of Cranberries singer Dolores O’Riordan in January, the band’s greatest hits Dreams – The Collection is at 12 after re-entering at Number 3.

Several debut albums also appear in the YTD Top 40: Anne-Marie appears at 15 with Speak Your Mind, Tales From The Backseat by Irish band The Academic is at 23, and US singer-songwriter Khalid is at 33 with American Teen.
