Olly Murs, 2009 X Factor finalist and current Xtra Factor presenter, is vindicated with second album In Case You Didn’t Know selling over 148,000 copies in its first week and taking the Number 1 spot against strong competition from Michael Bublé’s Christmas which this week sold some 143,00 copies for the Number 2 slot (up from last week’s Number 3), and Rihanna’s Talk That Talk, last week’s Number 1, which still sold in excess of 100,000 copies to make this week’s Number 3.

In November 2010 Murs saw his self-titled debut album held off the top only by the phenomenon of Take That’s original line-up reunion album Progress while just last week Rihanna’s single We Found Love ft Calvin Harris denied Murs the Official Singles Chart Number 1with new release Dance With Me Tonight (which this week holds at Number 2)

Murs can now count three Number 1 hits to his name adding today’s Official Albums Chart Number 1 to top-selling singles Please Don’t Go (2010) and Heart Skips a Beat ft Rizzle Kicks (2011).

After Murs, the next highest new entry is IL Divo’s  Wicked Game, straight in at Number 6 to give the pop-opera quartet their fifth Official Albums Chart Top 10 including the three Number 1s IL Divo (2004)  Ancora (2005), and The Promise (2008).

Finally, Bruno Mars’ multi-platinum former Number 1 Doo Wops & Hooligans yo-yos back up to Number 10 from last week’s 13.  Doo Wops & Hooligans has spent a total of 34 weeks in the Official Albums Chart Top 10 this year having entered at Number 1 in January.
