How do popstars feel about the EU referendum result?

Ellie Goulding, Niall Horan, Cher, Lindsay Lohan (!) – they've all had something to say.

Yesterday was a big day for the UK, and today is possibly even bigger. The majority of the British public have voted to leave the European Union.

But how are your fave popstars taking it? We combed through Twitter for the music world's Brexit hot takes. (Warning: there's a bit of swearing.)

Lily Allen stayed up to watch the votes come in and she's not happy.

Ellie Goulding's not into it either.

Lindsay Lohan, who had a Number 27 hit in 2005 and is thus, for these purposes, an actual popstar, watched the coverage in bed and was invoking Mean Girls quotes. (She's since had a change of heart and deleted the tweet, but screenshots are screenshots, Linz.)

Cher was also keeping up with what was happening…

 Foxes was staying upbeat.

Rudimental used the news to find some inspiration

Disclosure, however, were after a change of scenery.

Ella Eyre's making travel plans, too.

For Katy B, one emoji said it all

One Direction's Niall Horan was pretty mad and got a bit sweary (after this tweet, anyway)

Sigma communicated their feelings with the power of memes

Billy Bragg wasn't taking it well.

Liam Gallagher wasn't too thrilled, either.

Years & Years' Olly Alexander felt sad.

Clean Bandit's Neil Milan was also pretty raging but was also asking the BIG questions.

JLS's Aston Merrygold kept it short and sweet.

But not everyone was sad. Right Said Fred's Richard Fairbrass was pro-Brexit and his band had their eye on the future…

Do those who voted to Brexit support Scottish independence because it looks like that is what's going to happen now. In the words of Dr. Evil, "Way to go, A-holes!" Donald Trump salutes you.

Cool good luck 18% of scotish exports go to the EU, 12% goes to the rest of thee world, guess where the rest goes
so 18% stays tariff free and 70% gets a tariff if a free trade deal isn't done, add the fact scotland runs a 50% deficit to london yes great times ahead for a free independent bankrupt scotland

Shows how this was an elite vs the people vote, and the people won. Now these upper class tosspots are disappointed, especially those who can't ride on the EU's gravy train any more.

Actually 16 million non-famous people don't believe everything they read in the Daily Mail

I don't read the Daily Mail, and neither did a lot of the Vote Leave side, I should imagine. We're not all evil right wingers, you know. And besides, why was the EU so good in your opinion? And on top of this, why should we listen to a bunch of upper class celebrities who live in a hivemind about everything?

Wonderful result. The people have voted. Hopefully we can now get Britain back to being great again.
