In case you didn’t already know, this Friday (July 10) will see the Official Chart debut in its brand-spanking new slot after playing a part on Sundays for more than 50 years.

As such, last Sunday (July 5) saw BBC Radio 1’s previous Official Chart host Clara Amfo hand the baton over to the mighty Greg James, who will count down the week’s Top 40 between 4pm – 6pm.

As he prepares to make his Official Chart debut, we thought it was about time we got ourselves better acquainted with the DJ. What was the first single he bought? An album he played on repeat? And can he name ALL the presenters of Official Charts’ past? Hit play and find out below:

Wait, you didn’t think we’d let Greg off that easy, did you? As the new Official Chart host, it’s only right that we tested his chart smarts with a few tricky questions. See how he handled the pressure:

Tune into the Official Chart on BBC Radio 1 with Greg James on Fridays between 4pm - 6pm.

Let's hope James returns the show to more of a focus on the music and
artists. Amfo's excessively chatty style really annoyed me -- the
"shout-outs" increased to ridiculous frequency during her
tenure, and about half the time she got a listener on the phone to
bore us even further with the irrelevant details of what they're
doing at the moment (being stuck on a motorway after returning from a
weekend outing seemed to be the top activity). Perhaps not
coincidentally, the number of artist interviews seemed to have
significantly decreased under her reign.

Please, Greg -- keep the non music-related blather to a minimum! I listen to
this show from the States to keep up with the current UK pop chart,
not to hear the details of other listeners' love lives, study habits
or travel difficulties.
