Gravity becomes the UK's fastest selling DVD and Blu-ray of 2014

Alfonso Cuaron’s space epic has become the UK’s fastest selling DVD and Blu-ray title of 2014 so far, according to the Official Charts Company’s sales data.

It’s won six BAFTAs, seven Academy Awards and took the Golden Globe Award for Best Director, and now Gravity can add the title of the UK’s fastest selling DVD and Blu-ray to its ever growing list of accolades, too.

Directed by Alfonso Cuaron and starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney, Gravity has gone straight in at Number 1 on the Official Video Chart.

According to the Official Charts Company’s sales data, nearly 381,000 copies of Gravity were purchased during its first week on sale last week, beating the previous record holder for this year, Thor – The Dark World’s tally of 342,000 copies, week one. Blu-ray accounted for over 46% of Gravity’s first week sales.

Gravity has also gone straight in at Number 1 on the Official DVD, Official Blu-ray and Official Film On Video format charts, too.
