Fifty Shades of Grey was a huge movie, and its sequel is also proving to be a hit on the Official Video Chart this week.

In today’s Chart Update, a snapshot of what the final chart may look like on Sunday at 5:45pm, Fifty Shades Darker has notched up three days of sales amounting to 102,000. Should its sales momentum continue, the release will become one of the year’s biggest sellers so far, although not quite matching its prequel’s 476,000 sold in its first week back in 2015.

All the more impressive, Fifty Shades Darker is outperforming the rest of the Top 10 combined, and has shifted five times more than this week’s expected Number 2 entry, The LEGO Batman Movie, on course to drop one place.

Another new entry in this week’s Top 5 is Patriots Day, a Mark Wahlberg thriller based on the true events of the Boston Marathon bombing in 2013. The DVD/Blu-ray version is expected to bow at Number 3.

New entries and high climbers

A duo pack of both Fifty Shades movies is flirting with this week’s Number 8, while supernatural horror The Autopsy of Jane Doe is giving chills further down the chart at 25.

Lower down, Jamestown: Season 1 is charging towards Number 29, and Transformers’ 4 Movie Collection could return to the Top 40, rising 31 to Number 39.
