Emeli Sande’s UK albums chart reign continues

Emeli Sande’s Our Version Of Events continues its reign at the top of the Official Albums Chart.

Following a raft of BRIT Award nominations this week including British Female, British Album Of The Year and two nominations in the British Single category, Emeli Sande’s all-conquering year continues as Our Version Of Events remains unchallenged at the top of the Official Albums Chart this week.

Sande’s multi-platinum debut Our Version Of Events was 2012’s biggest selling album and has now clocked up its 48th week in the Official Albums Chart Top 10, extending its chart record for number of Top 10 consecutive weeks of any solo artist’s debut album.

“It feels pretty mental!" Emeli told OfficialCharts.com on the red carpet at the BRITs launch on Thursday evening at London’s Savoy Hotel. “Those types of statistics take a while to sink in. For people to have really connected with this album the way they have wasn’t something I expected. I hoped for it, but I never imagined I’d have this much success with it. It’s wonderful.”

As the buzz in movie land surrounding the Tom Hooper’s epic big screen adaptation of the musical Les Miserables takes hold, the soundtrack comes hurtling into the Official Albums Chart.  Les Miserables The Motion Picture Cast Recording, featuring Anne Hathaway singing I Dreamed A Dream as popularised in recent years by Susan Boyle, enters the chart at Number 5 today. 

Further down, Black Veil Brides score their highest charting album to date with Wretched And Devine: The Story Of The Wild Ones (20). The band are set to headline Kerrang! magazine’s UK tour which kicks off in Cardiff next month.
