Ed Sheeran is to be immortalised in wax at Madame Tussauds after the singer revealed he has been measured up by the museum's sculptors.

The singer-songwriter admitted that being measured up his waxwork, which will feature in the iconic London museum, was "one of the weirdest experiences" of his life.

"Today has been full on... I got measured for Madame Tussauds which was one of the weirdest experiences of my life because they put me in skin-tight grey shorts and a skin-tight vest which didn't leave much to the imagination," he told BBC's The One Show.

"They measured me for three hours and prodded and poked and filmed it. It was a bit odd."

Ed also revealed that his third studio album - the follow-up to 2014's X - is well under way, explaining: "I started working on the third album as soon as I handed in the second album. I didn't write any songs for eight months and then I had a month off at Christmas which was wicked, and the songs just poured out."

X was the biggest selling album of last year, selling 1.69 million copies and so far spawning two Official Singles Chart Number 1s with Sing and Thinking Out Loud. X’s bumper sales are the highest of any artist album since Adele’s 21 back in 2011.
