Ed Sheeran’s X wins tenth week at the top
The singer/songwriter shifted an impressive 152,000 copies of X this week to earn a tenth non-consecutive week at the summit.
Last week, the Official Charts Company and BPI announced that the LP has sold over a million copies in the UK so far, with Ed becoming the first artist to achieve the feat within a calendar year since Emeli Sande with Our Version Of Events in 2012.
Meanwhile, in an all-British Top 5, Sam Smith climbs 4 to 2 with In The Lonely Hour and Olly Murs’ Never Been Better jumps 6 to 3.
One Direction finish in fourth place with Four, and George Ezra’s former Number 1 album Wanted On Voyage completes the Top 5.
New entries and high climbers
Elsewhere, Michael Buble’s Christmas makes its return to the Top 10 at Number 10, and Paloma Faith’s A Perfect Contradiction leaps 22 to 15 thanks to its recent repack.
Britain’s Got Talent winners Collabro re-enter the Top 40 at 19 with a reissue of their chart-topping debut Stars, and Union J land at Number 28 with You Got It All. Last week the boy band scored their biggest hit to date on the Official Singles Chart with the LP’s the title track, which entered at Number 2.
Finally, US rapper J Cole scores his third UK Top 40 album with 2014 Forest Hills Drive.
