Ed Sheeran’s X logs 12th week at Number 1 with massive sales

Ed Sheeran has continued his reign atop the Official Albums Chart this week with X.

The album logs its 12th non-consecutive week at Number 1 with sales of 211,000, his second biggest one-week sales tally since the LP’s release back in June.

Holding at Number 2 is Sam Smith’s In The Lonely Hour, which OfficialCharts.com recently announced had sold over one million copies, and Olly Murs’ Never Been Better is at 3.

Completing the Top 5 are George Ezra’s Wanted On Voyage (Number 4) and Take That’s III (5).

New Entries and high climbers

Elsewhere in the Top 10, Ella Henderson’s Chapter One jumps from 11 to 8, Paloma Faith’s A Perfect Contradiction is up five places from last week to Number 9, and Michael Buble’s Christmas album is at 10.

Further down the chart, this week’s biggest climbers include Paolo Nutini’s Caustic Love (up ten places to Number 18), Coldplay’s Ghost Stories (up from 38 to 20), and Arctic Monkeys’ AM, which rebounds 32 places to re-enter the Top 40 at 39.
