According to this morning’s Official Charts Company sales data, after just four days on sale, Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories has become the fastest selling artist album of the year so far.
Up to midnight last night (Thursday, May 23), more than 133,000 copies of the French duo’s fourth studio album have been purchased in the UK. It is currently 12,000 copies ahead of Michael Buble who set the previous record last month when more than 121,000 copies of his latest effort, To Be Loved, were sold during its first week on sale.
As reported on Wednesday, Random Access Memories is set to debut at Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart on Sunday. As of this morning, it is currently outselling the rest of the Top 10 combined.
Random Access Memories’ lead single, Get Lucky FT N.E.R.D’s Pharrell Williams and Chic’s Nile Rodgers, has also become 2013’s biggest selling single so far, overtaking Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ Thrift Shop FT Wanz. Get Lucky has sold nearly 700,000 since it went on sale in the UK nearly six weeks ago.
