2010 X Factor finalist Cher Lloyd storms to the top of the Official Singles Chart today with her debut release Swagger Jagger deposing She Makes Me Wanna, last week’s number one by previous X Factor finalists JLS.
“Having a number one was the best thing I could have asked for”, said Cher, who turned 18 just last month.
Growing up in Malvern, Worcestershire, she spent her childhood honing her musical talent and dreaming of being in the charts. Now she has duetted with Will.i.Am on X Factor and spent the months since the talent show travelling the world and working on her debut album which will feature collaborations with the likes of Busta Rhymes, Mike Posner and new British rapper Dot Rotten. The as-yet unnamed album is scheduled for a November release.
The Official Singles Top 10 features two other new entries this week; Little Bad Girl from hit-maker, house DJ and producer David Guetta and US rappers Cruz and Ludacris climbs to number six from last week’s 13 while Brighton hip-hop duo Rizzle Kicks land their best Official Charts performance to date with Down With The Trumpets climbing to this week’s number nine from last week’s 20.
In the Official Albums Chart, Amy Winehouse continues to dominate with Back To Black at number one for a second week with its strongest weekly sales since the singer’s untimely death last month and her debut album Frank climbing from last week’s number five to this week’s number three, it’s best-ever Official Charts performance. The two albums are separated by Adele’s evergreen album 21 at number two while Adele’s debut album 19 is this week’s number four.
The Official Albums Top 10 sees no new entries this week but one re-entry, Rihanna’s former number one album Loud which climbs to two places to this week’s number 10.
