Charity records dominate the top of the Official Singles Chart this week, with Help For Haiti pipping the Brits release by Dizzee Rascal and Florence & The Machine to number one.
The Official Charts Company confirms today that the Helping Haiti single Everybody Hurts (which is raising money for those suffering from last month's earthquake) has topped the Official Singles Chart for a second week. In turn. Dizzee & Florence's You Got The Dirtee Love - which is raising money for the Brits Trust - arrives at number two.
Everybody Hurts - which was originally written and recorded by American rock band REM - was re-recorded by Helping Haiti, a star-studded line-up including Alexandra Burke, Cheryl Cole, James Morrison, JLS, Kylie Minogue, Leona Lewis, Michael Buble, Mika, Robbie Williams, Rod Stewart, Susan Boyle and Take That.
You Got The Dirtee Love by Dizzee/Florence went on sale following their performance of the same song at the Brit Awards on Tuesday night. It is the first time in Brits history that audience members and viewers watching live on ITV1 have had the chance to download a souvenir of the show. A donation is being made to the Brit Trust from every sale of the single until 18 March 2010.
Official Charts Company managing director Martin Talbot says, "For so many charity records to be sold in such a short space of time shows just how generous the British public are - it adds up to 600,000 charity singles in the past two weeks across these two releases."
The big news in the Official Albums Chart is the arrival of Glee: The Music Volume 1 at number 1, after a month in which numerous tracks from the E4/Channel 4 series have dominated the Official Singles Chart too. This week, Don't Stop Believin' by Glee Cast is at number 7 in the Official Singles Chart, with Halo/Walking On Sunshine at 9, It's My Life/Confessions Part II at 20, Keep Holding On at 47, No Air at 52 and Somebody To Love at 56.
It is also a big week for the Brits, with Lady Gaga's The Fame and Florence & The Machine's Lungs following their Brit wins last Tuesday night to rise into the Top 3 (from 5 to 2 and 9 to 3 respectively) with sales of both albums increasing by 53%.
Among the other biggest beneficiaries of the Brits show, which attracted 5.8m viewers last Tuesday (according to overnight figures from last week), were:
>> Robbie Williams' Reality Killed The Video Star - 21 to 8 - sales up 22%
>> Jay-Z's The Blueprint 3 - 22 to 10 - sales up 25%
>> Lily Allen's It's Not Me It's You - 28 to 19 - sales up 13%

In turn, the Brit Awards Album tops the Official Compilations Chart this week.
