The Official Chart is coming to CBBC!

This is turning out to be one hell of a day of big, fat, exciting chart announcements.

CBBC have today confirmed that they will be joining forces with Radio 1 from May to create the CBBC Official Chart Show.

Launching on May 10, the new 30-minute show will be broadcast live from Radio 1's Live Lounge every Sunday evening from 6.30pm, offering an energetic mix of pop, gossip, user-generated content, interactive features and fast-moving entertainment.

As Radio 1's current host Clara Amfo counts down the Top 10 in the adjacent radio studio, CBBC’s Cel Spellman (Waterloo Road and Friday Download) will simultaneously reveal the nation's biggest songs in video form, culminating in the unveiling of the Official Number 1.

Check out a teaser from the show:

The CBBC Official Chart Show has been commissioned by Cheryl Taylor, Controller of CBBC and is being made by Pretzel Films TV. Some 26 episodes of the show have been commissioned, with a second run planned for the autumn.

Official Charts Company chief executive Martin Talbot says, “This is an exciting new era for the Official Singles Chart – following the integration of streams, with the move to a new, more high profile slot.

"BBC Radio 1 has been the home of the UK’s Official Singles Chart for more than 40 years and we are delighted that they are as excited about future plans for the chart as we are.

"To also see the Official Chart finding a new home on CBBC from May further underlines the appeal of the Official Chart to the UK's next generation of music fans."

The Official Charts Company have also today confirmed that from Summer 2015, the Official Chart will move to Fridays. Click here to see the full story.
