Jason Derulo’s The Other Side is closing in on Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines in the race to this week's Official Number 1 single!

Ding! Ding! Seconds out… Round 1!

Reigning chart champ Robin Thicke has remained undefeated at the top of the Official Singles Chart for the last three weeks with Blurred Lines. But could that all be about to change?

The US R&B star, who teamed up with rapper TI and Daft Punk collaborator Pharrell Williams for his cheeky summer smash hit, is currently slugging it out with Miami singer/songwriter Jason Derulo in the battle to be this week’s Number 1 single.

According to the Official Charts Company‘s midweek weigh-in, Derulo’s The Other Side  – which is the first cut from his hotly anticipated, as-yet-untitled, third album – is at Number 2, trailing Thicke’s track by a very close margin of just 7,000 copies. Up to midnight last night (Tuesday, June 18 ) Blurred Lines had added a further 60,000 sales, which now brings its impressive sales tally to 645,000 copies after three and a half weeks on sale.

Will the Robin Thicke make it a fourth week at Number 1 this weekend? Or will the kid from Miami steal his title by the final bell? Tune into the Official Chart with Jameela Jamil on BBC Radio 1 from 4pm on Sunday, or log on to www.officialcharts.com from 7pm to find out!
