Can Beyonce score this week’s Number 1 album?
Beyonce goes head-to-head with Ellie Goulding in the race to this week’s Official Number 1 album… And it’s going to be a close one!
Ellie Goulding faces tough competition from Beyonce if she wants to hold on to her Official Albums Chart crown this weekend.
Ellie’s second studio album, Halcyon, and Beyonce’s new self-titled album, are neck-and-neck in the race to this week’s Number 1, with just under 700 copies currently separating the pair on today’s Official Albums Chart Update.
Ellie scored her second UK Number 1 album on Sunday after 65 weeks in the Top 75. To date, it has sold nearly 665,000 copies. Meanwhile, Beyonce released her surprise fifth studio album without any prior announcement just over four weeks ago. It has sold nearly 232,000 copies in the UK so far, and has never left the Top 5.
Be sure to tune in to BBC Radio 1’s Official Chart Show with Jameela Jamil and Dan And Phil this Sunday (January 12) from 6pm to see who comes out on top. The full Official Albums Chart Top 100 will be published, here, at 7pm that evening.
Gary Barlow slides one place to Number 3 today with Since I Saw You Last. John Newman climbs one place to Number 4 with his debut album, Tribute, and Bastille are up one place to Number 5 with Bad Blood.
