Camila Cabello releases statement on Fifth Harmony departure, remaining members respond

Camila Cabello's exit from Fifth Harmony has escalated on social media, with the departing band member responding to her former bandmates' initial statement, before they then hit back refuting her claims.

Cabello channeled 5H's single Miss Movin' On and decided to leave in pursuit of new projects, much to the surprise of her fellow Fifth Harmony members, who announced that they found out after being "informed via her representatives that Camila has decided to leave Fifth Harmony". 

The 19-year-old then hit back at those claims in a Twitter post, who stated that she was "shocked" by the girls' words, explaining that they had had "long, much needed conversations about the future". She then branded the claims they didn't know as "simply not true".

Since then, Fifth Harmony have released their second and final message addressing Camila's exit, disputing the fact that these conversations ever existed.

Ally, Normani, Dinah and Lauren tweeted: "We have spent the past year and a half trying to communicate to her [Camila] and her team all of the reasons why we felt Fifth Harmony deserved at least one more album of her time, given the success of this past year.

"After months of rejection from her and her team, those supposed lengthy conversations in fact never happened. We have tried with exhausted efforts and hearts to keep this group alive as the five of us, and we want it to be made very clear that unfortunately those efforts were not mutual."

As a five-piece, Fifth Harmony achieved two Top 20 albums in the UK, including the Number 6 peaking 7/27, which was released in June of this year. The group also earned five UK Top 40 singles including Work from Home which reached Number 2 on the Official Singles Chart.
