The collaborative force of Calvin Harris and Florence Welch seems invincible right now as the pair look set to score their second Number 1 in less than three months. Sweet Nothing has surged ahead of reigning chart champs Swedish House Mafia on this week's Official Singles Chart Update.
Scottish DJ and producer Harris’ new single, Sweet Nothing, which features guest vocals from the Florence And The Machine singer, follows hot on the heels of his remix of Florence And The Machine’s Number 1 summer smash, Spectrum. Harris’ reworking of the track saw it shoot straight to Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart back in July and went on to become the biggest selling single of the summer. Not only that, it also gave Florence And The Machine their first ever Number 1 single.
Sweet Nothing is taken from Calvin Harris’ upcoming third album, 18 Months, which is due for release at the end of this month.
Swedish House Mafia slide one place to Number 2 with Don’t You Worry Child FT John Martin, while Psy’s Gangnam Style is holding firm at Number 3.
Lawson are new in at Number 4 with Standing In the Dark, which looks set to become the British band’s third Top 5 hit of their debut year. The Official Singles Chart Update Top 5 is completed by Rihanna’s Diamonds which is down one place to Number 5.
In addition to Calvin Harris’ Sweet Nothing FT Florence Welch (Number 1) and Lawson’s Standing In The Dark (4) there are five other new entries in today’s Official Singles Chart Update Top 40.
Rebecca Ferguson’s Backtrack looks set to enter at Number 16. Speaking to OfficialCharts.com, Rebecca said: “I wrote Backtrack about someone who cheated on me. But, I tried to put my own little spin on it and made it really upbeat. I recorded it with an amazing writer called Jonny Lattimer. It’s a break-up song, but we put a positive spin on it so it’s really fun, happy and something everyone can sing along to.”
