Pop superstar Bruno Mars has posted his eagerly anticipated new video, Gorilla, online, and yes it’s as racy as you might have expected.
If you’ve had a listen to Bruno’s chart-topping album Unorthodox Jukebox, you’d be forgiven for getting your groove on to Track 2 - the brilliantly Police-esque Locked Out Of Heaven. Perhaps you’ve had a croon in the shower along to When I Was Your Man (or had a chuckle at that clip of the cute kid on The Ellen DeGeneres Show making a better job of it than your good self). You’re most definitely not alone though if you found yourself left a tad confused by the lyrics on Track 3 – Gorilla, and the Hawaiian popstar’s apparent bedroom antics.
'You and me baby making love like gorillas...' Yes, 'gorillas'. Perhaps we’ve had a somewhat sheltered upbringing, but we were really quite baffled by this concept. Making love, 'LIKE GORILLAS'? But pop’s favourite pint-sized superstar will be pleased to know that it was intriguing (and anthemic) enough to make us listen again, and again, and again, to work it out.
To be honest we’re still none the wiser about this jungle-based ‘loving’ analogy, and we’ve so far successfully resisted the urge to search ‘gorilla reproduction’ on YouTube to gain some clarity on the matter. Instead, we’ll simply let Bruno take to the stage to illustrate in this Cameron Duddy-directed steamy new video. He promises it’s a killer, in fact, you’ll be banging on his chest, bang-bang, GORILLA.
Gorilla will be released in the UK on November 11. Check out the official video below:
Gorilla’s predecessors from Unorthodox Jukebox are two of the biggest selling singles of 2013 so far. When I Was Your Man is Number 12 on the Official Top 40 Biggest Selling Singles Of 2013, while Locked Out Of Heaven, is currently at 39.
