BRIT Awards 2013: The Nominations in full

By Dan Lane

Emeli Sande leads the charge with four nominations for the BRIT Awards 2013 with MasterCard. OfficialCharts.com were on the red carpet to capture all the action as it happened.

Emeli Sande has received four nominations for the BRIT Awards 2013 with MasterCard.

At a star studded launch party at London’s Savoy Hotel this evening (Thursday, January 10), it was revealed that the Scottish singer / songwriter is up for the British Female Solo Artist and MasterCard British Album of The Year prizes, as well as receiving two nominations for Best British Single (for Next To Me and Labrinth’s Beneath Your Beautiful, which she features on).

The news comes a year after Emeli won the prestigious Critics’ Choice Award at the BRIT Awards 2012, which catapulted her to international fame. In addition to appearing at both the opening and closing ceremonies of the London 2012 Olympic Games, her debut album, Our Version Of Events, went on to become the biggest selling album of 2012, and set a new Official Albums Chart record for the most consecutive weeks in the Top 10 for a solo artist’s debut release.

“It feels pretty mental!" Emeli told OfficialCharts.com. “Those types of statistics take a while to sink in. For people to have really connected with this album the way they have wasn’t something I expected. I hoped for it, but I never imagined I’d have this much success with it. It’s wonderful.”

OfficialCharts.com were on the red carpet at the launch party of the BRIT Awards 2013 with MasterCard to capture all the action.

In addition to catching up with Emeli Sande, we also chatted to this year's Critics' Choice recipient, Tom Odell, and DJ Fresh (who is nominated for Best Single for Hot Right Now FT Rita Ora) and Ed Sheeran, One Direction and Paloma Faith producer Jake Gosling (who is nominated for Producer Of The Year).

The late great Amy Winehouse, whose album Lioness: Hidden Treasures was released on December 2, 2011 and went to Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart, has achieved the first EVER posthumous BRITs nomination, having been nominated in the British Female Solo Artist category.

“The Winehouse family are delighted with this wonderful nomination for Amy,” said her family in an official statement. “It proves that her music still has an enormous effect on the public now and for the generations to come. We are proud that her legacy will live on forever through her incredible songs and performances and the many, many young people that are being helped through the Amy Winehouse Foundation."
