BRIT Awards 2013: Critics’ Choice nominees revealed

Newcomers Aluna George, Laura Mvula and Tom Odell have been shortlisted for the 2013 BRITs Critics’ Choice prize which will be announced on December 20.

The BRIT Awards 2013 are set to take place at London’s O2 Arena on February 20, 2013. However, in the lead up to the event, the BRITs’ organizers will reveal the winner of next year’s Critics’ Choice Award later this month.

Newcomers Aluna George, Laura Mvula and Tom Odell have been shortlisted for the 2013's prize. In the past, the BRITs Critics’ Choice Award has helped launch the careers of previous winners such as Adele (2008), Florence and the Machine (2009), Ellie Goulding (2010) and Jessie J (2011). While this year’s winner, Emeli Sande, has gone on to become a household name, and has clocked up the biggest selling album of 2012 so far with Our Version Of Events.

In related news, this year's BRIT Awards statue will be designed by Damien Hirst. Leading British artists and designers Dame Vivienne Westwood and Sir Peter Blake designed the trophy in 2011 and 2012, respectively.
